TEAM HISTORY
- The Miami Dolphins were founded in 1966. That season they went 3-11, which was a rough beginning for the franchise.
- After a few years of mediocrity, the Dolphins hired head coach Don Shula in 1970, who would bring them success.
- Coach Shula led the Dolphins to their first Super Bowl win in 1972. That team is often regarded as one of the best ever because they finished undefeated.
- Just a year later in 1973, the Dolphins won their second Super Bowl.
- After some struggles in the late 1970s and early 1980s, the Dolphins drafted Dan Marino from Pittsburgh in 1983.
- In Marino's second season, the Dolphins made another Super Bowl appearance, where they lost to the San Francisco 49ers.
- That is the last time the Dolphins made it to the Super Bowl.
- Despite playoff appearances in the 1990s, the Dolphins have continued searching for another championship.
- The 2000s were difficult and included a 1-15 season in 2007.
- In 2012, the Dolphins drafted Ryan Tannehill from Texas A&M. His tenure included one playoff appearance in 2016.
- In 2020, the Dolphins drafted Tua Tagovailoa from Alabama, helping lead the team back to the playoffs.
